Jidai wo Koeta Shoujo to Fuuinsareta Shounen

Feudal era

Inuyasha, being chased by villagers crashes through the roof of a shrine. Inside lays the Shikon no Tama, or the sacred Jewel of Four Souls. The dog demon steals the jewel as the villagers catch up. Inuyasha manages to escape their spears by plowing through the other side of the shrine’s roof, right before the small building blows up entirely. He rejoices over finally being able to become full demon with the sacred jewel.

A priestess extends an arrow on her bow as she shouts to Inuyasha. The priestess releases and he arrow pins Inuyasha to a tree as he drops the Jewel of Four Souls. Inuyasha falls unconscious as he ponders why Kikyo, the priestess, would do this. Kikyo staggers toward the jewel, leaving a trail of blood along the way. She collapses before the Shikon no Tama as others, including her younger sister, surround her. Kikyo seems to blame herself for what happened. She picks up the sacred jewel and proclaims, “All for this. The sacred jewel which…” She cuts herself off from the pain she is enduring. Kikyo’s younger sister tries to offer assistance, but Kikyo explains that she will not be alive for much longer. So, Kikyo hands over the Shikon no Tama to her younger sister to burn with her body, wishing it will never fall into the hands of those who would abuse it. Kikyo’s body is burned.

Present era

A girl named Kagome Higurashi is being told about the Shikon no Tama by her grandfather; replicas of the sacred jewel have been made into key chains for sell at their family shrine. However, Kagome unknowingly interrupts the grandfather many times, finally reminding him of her birthday on the next day. Her grandfather decides to give Kagome’s present to her early. She opens the present to discover a weird webbed and clawed hand, or the authentic mummified hand of a water imp as her grandfather explains. Kagome simply gives it to Buyo, her cat. Kagome’s grandfather freaks, proclaiming the present to be an antique. Voicing over, Kagome explains that she has heard many stories like the one about the sacred jewel and she never believed any of them until her fifteenth birthday…

Kagome leaves the shrine to go to school, but she finds her brother near the shrine’s old well. Kagome’s brother says that Buyo is somewhere in the well room. Kagome tells her brother to go down to find their cat, but they here a strange noise, so Kagome walks down unfazed. However, closer to the well, Kagome discovers that a noise is coming from the sealed well. Buyo makes a noise and scares both Kagome and her brother. Kagome picks up the cat and begins arguing with her brother when the well bursts open. Kagome is grabbed by many hands and pulled down the well as Buyo jumps out of her clutches. Kagome discovers her captor to be a centipede woman with six arms! The woman says that Kagome has “it” as she licks Kagome’s face. Confused, Kagome tries to break free. Finally, Kagome puts her hand in front of the demon’s face and a burst of light pushes it back. Kagome is called a wretched girl by the centipede woman who then proclaims that she must have the sacred jewel.

Feudal era

Kagome finally lands at the bottom of the well, as she and the centipede woman, now gone, had been floating down it. Kagome realizes she’s at the bottom of the well and figures she must have bumped her head when she sees an arm of the centipede woman lying next to her. She calls for her brother Sota to retrieve their grandfather, but when she receives no answer, she guesses he ran off. Climbing out of the well, the girl discovers the well is no longer enclosed and her shrine is gone. In fact, nothing looks industrial like current Japan. Still, Kagome calls for her family and rejoices to see the old tree at the shrine. She thinks this means that she is practically home, but instead of discovering her place of living, she finds a boy with silver hair, dressed in red, pinned to the tree by an arrow. She calls to the boy, but there is no answer from him either. Deciding to take a closer look, she notices the boy has ears like a dog! Naturally, Kagome touches them, vigorously at that! Kagome is attacked by men with arrows.

She very quickly finds herself tied up by the men and in a strange village. The villagers gather around and whisper about her, like how strange her clothes appear and if she is a foreigner. This is when high priestess Kaede appears before Kagome and tries to exorcise the girl. Kagome tries explaining that she is not a demon, and this leads Kaede to ask why she was found in the Forrest of Inuyasha. Another person suggest she could be a spy, but this seemed even less likely to Kaede when she takes a good look at Kagome.

Kaede: It’s there, but I know not why.

At night inside Kaede’s hut, she serves stew to Kagome, now free from restraints. Talking to Kaede, Kagome discovers that she has never heard of Tokyo before. Kagome mentions that she should be getting back, but knows that she has no idea of how that can be accomplished. Kaede recalls the day Kikyo died, 50 years ago.
The centipded woman begins attacking the village. Kaede and Kagome rush out to see what is going on. The demon rushes toward Kagome and demands the sacred jewel. This mentioning if the sacred jewel surprises Kaede, who then asks Kagome about it. Having only heard of the jewel, Kagome is clueless as to why the demon is after her. Kaede explains to the others that their battle tactic must me to lure the demon into the dry well in the Forest of Inuyasha. Kagome realizes that it’s the same well she came out of and asks which direction the well is in. Kagome begins running in the direction of the well without a response, but Kaede tells her to wait. Kaede realizes that Kagome can see things that others cannot, like the light from the forest.

As Kagome runs toward the well, she prays someone will come and save her. The centipede demon is right behind her as Kagome yells for somebody to help. Not far away, in the forest, Inuyasha awakens and says that he can smell the blood of the woman who killed him and it’s coming closer. He tries to take the arrow out of him, but it emanates a glow which does not allow him to take it out.
The centipede continues to gain on Kagome and demands the jewel. Kagome answers the same – she does not have the jewel. The demon crashes into the ground under Kagome, sending her flying through the air. She lands in front of Inuyasha.

Inuyasha: Hello, Kikyo. Playing with bugs now, are we?

Kagome wonders if the boy has just spoken to her. She states that he is alive and he wonders why it is taking so long for her to kill the centipede woman. Inuyasha says, “Just do her like you did me. You look pretty dumb there, Kikyo. The Kikyo I know wouldn’t waist her time.” Kagome is so confused as to why the boy pinned to the tree calls her Kikyo. She becomes upset and exclaims that she is not Kikyo and her name is - Kagome is interrupted by the arrival of the centipede demon, who is speared by some of the villagers. Kagome is relieved to be saved, but is called pathetic by Inuyasha. Kagome gets in Inuyasha’s face and he realizes that she is not Kikyo and says that Kikyo was much cuter. The centipede demon begins pulling Kagome, who latches onto Inuyasha’s hair. Kaede arrives and is surprised that Inuyasha has revived because the seal should have held forever. The centipede lady grows fangs and is about to bite down on Kagome when Kagome extends her hand and a flash of light pushes the demon away again. Kagome falls from her position as well as the rest of the centipede woman’s arms. A light from inside Kagome begins to shine. The demon gets a hold of Kagome’s side and flings her into the air. From a cut on Kagome falls the Shikon Jewel!

Inuyasha shouts for Kagome to give him the jewel, but they both become enwrapped on the tree by the woman. The centipede demon mentions that she heard some half-demon spawn was after the sacred jewel and this makes Kagome nervous. Inuyasha says that half is enough to kick her butt and Kagome questions if Inuyasha could. The demon lowers her face to the ground and extends her tongue out to swallow the Jewel. The demon begins rearming (literally) and breaks out of its layer of skin. As the demon begins to crush Kagome, Inuyasha asks Kagome if she could remove the arrow stuck in him. In Kagome’s hand, the arrow disappears, much to Kaede’s dismay.

Fully awakened, Inuyasha frees himself and Kagome from the centipede demon’s clutches. He even tears the centipede demon apart with his Iron Reaver Soul Stealer attack. Kagome notices that Inuyasha is strong, but the centipede is still moving. Kagome is told to find the glowing flesh because that’s where it’s source of power is coming from, the sacred jewel – it must be removed. Kaede removes the jewel and the demon disappears. Kaede returns it to Kagome, the person who looks so much like her dead sister. Kagome wonders why she would have a jewel inside her body that demons are after. Inuyasha agrees that humans should not have it and threatens her to give the jewel to him. What? Inuyasha is not the hero?
